The Summit Sport and Recreation Park (formerly Mt Barker Regional Sports Hub) is the largest regional sporting facility in South Australia, providing a range of sport facilities to address identified gaps in current usage and community growth. The project is developed with a high degree of stakeholder partnership, including community members, local, state, and national sporting associations, as well as local, state, and federal governments.
The park makes a significant contribution to the health, economic viability, and wellbeing of the local and regional community.
The MBRSH design balances the needs of the specific sporting groups with community values and expectations. The project provides an important community focal point whilst creating a lasting legacy for Mount Barker. Key to the design, is a completely pedestrianised civic spine that allows seamless connectivity between facilities.
Construction began in 2019 and was completed in 2021, delivering a state-of-the-art regional sporting facility featuring a turf Australian rules football and cricket oval, two synthetic soccer pitches, a 270-seat undercover grandstand, and supporting amenities.
